Welcome Note

 

Dear Delegates,

 

It is an honor and a pleasure to welcome you to the Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2019 on “The Political Economy of NCDs: A Whole of Society Approach” from 29 January – 3 February 2019 at the Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld in Bangkok, Thailand.

We would like to provide information to facilitate your participation to be more pleasurable and successful.


IMMIGRATION PROCESS
Upon your arrival, participants who already have a visa can pass through immigration by showing your Passport, Immigration Card (Your flight attendant should hand it out before landing) and Invitation Letter.

Participants who have received the necessary documents for entry visa from the PMAC Secretariat should go to the PASSPORT CONTROL (MIDDLE ZONE NEAR GATE D5).


AIRPORT TRANSFER
Airport transfers to the Centara Grand and other nearby Hotels (as indicated in the Logistics Guide) will be available starting from 27 January 2019. To request this service, please provide your travel itinerary in your online registration page.  Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport, after receiving your luggage, please go to the Meeting Point at the Arrival Hall on the 2nd floor, near the Arrival Information Counter, next to Gate 3. The driver will be holding a signboard with the conference name (PMAC).

For your return, airport transfers will be available starting from 2 February until 5 February 2019. Please contact our staff at the Airport Transfer Counter at the Conference Venue to confirm your departure time from the hotels.


REGISTRATION TO THE CONFERENCE
The Registration Desk will be open at the Centara Grand on the 22nd Floor (except on 1 February 2019 morning, which will be on the 23rd Floor) during the following periods.  Please bring your ID card / passport / invitation letter for registration. Upon registration, participants will receive a badge, conference bag and small conference program booklet. For those attending field trips on 31 January, please reconfirm your attendance at the same desk.


Registration Hours:

•    On Tuesday 29 January 2019 from 07.30 – 18.00 hrs. (22nd Floor)
•    On Wednesday 30 January 2019 from 07.30 – 18:00 hrs. (22nd Floor)
•    On Thursday 31 January 2019 from 07.30 – 18:00 hrs. (22nd Floor)
•    On Friday 1 February 2019 from 07:00 – 08:00 hrs. (23rd Floor)
•    On Friday 1 February 2019 from 12:00 hrs. onwards (22nd Floor)


OPENING SESSION
The Opening Session on Friday 1 February 2019 at 08:30 hrs. will be presided over by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Participants without a badge are required to register onsite and receive their badge 1 hour before attending the Opening Session.

Importantly, due to strict security measures, participants are requested to enter the 23rd floor to pass through the security check, thermal check and badge scanner before proceeding to the Opening Session on the 22nd floor before 08:30 hrs. The conference room will be closed at 9.00 am; participants who arrive after the room is closed are kindly request to remain outside, attending at the satellite room on the 23rd floor until the Opening and Keynote Session is over. As the security check process on the 23rd floor may take time, we kindly recommend participants to arrive as early as possible.

Due to security reasons, please wear your badge at all times during the Conference.  Participants without a badge will not be allowed to enter the Conference during the Opening and Keynote Session.

During the Opening and Keynote Session, please turn off your mobile phone or, if necessary, switch it to silent mode and please do not take any photographs and/or videos.


SIDE MEETINGS
Registered participants who are interested in attending the open side meetings should contact the side meeting organizers directly to inform your interest.  Contact details of the side meeting organizers are available on the conference website at https://pmac2019.com/site/sidemeeting


CONFERENCE SPECIAL EVENTS
Throughout the conference, participants will enjoy visiting the exhibition, poster area and art contest gallery. A publication table is also available for all participating organizations who want to share their publications with Conference attendees.  Our healthy meeting encourages all participants to join our mini exercise stations and traditional Thai massage.  


INTERNET FACILITIES
Free internet WIFI will be available during the conference from 29 January - 3 February 2019.
