BACKGROUND :
The use of innovative digital technologies has the potential to transform health service delivery across the globe. There are more than 7 billion mobile telephone subscriptions across the world, over 70% of which are in low- or middle- income countries. As a global society, we are also facing a looming threat of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), which kill 41 million people each year, around 71% of all deaths. Preventing NCDs is the most sustainable way of improving population health, but it can be challenging to reach people with the right information to support healthy lifestyles, reduce risks and prevent NCD from developing. Digital health is a promising way of increasing access to information and services, and has potential to be delivered at scale.
